Poisonous Love

Lauren Smith never dreamed that her husband would cheat on her,right in front of her face with their housemaid.

And in a way that she would never have expected.

That day was her birthday.

A year ago,because of a car accident,Lauren was reduced from a professional elite to a blind woman who could only stay at home and wait for death.

Her husband,David Colby,in order to help her move on as soon as possible,on her 30th birthday,specially prepared an exclusive concert for her with his friends in the band.

David is the lead singer,singing all those songs they used to listen to when they fell in love.

He did not sing well,but the deep emotion in his voice was more moving than any beautiful lyrics.

Lauren was so moved that she drank a little too much amid all the uproar.

She can't remember how she got home,except that she fell in the bathtub.

The fall was not serious,the back of her head knocked on the rim of the bathtub,and her head was swollen.

However,her eyes were unexpectedly able to see again.

The moment Lauren could see the bathroom furnishings,she was all sober.The first reaction of her was to tell David the good news.

However,without waiting for her to get up,she heard a faint sound of talking from outside the bathroom.

It's their housemaid,Mary Cortney.

"David,tell me honestly,do you still have feelings for that blind woman?"

"We agreed that this concert today is just a show,why are you singing so deeply,and what's with your friends?Call her sister,dear,or other nonsense!Who am I?"

Buzzing...

She felt like she had been struck by lightning on her head.

Lauren stood stiffly in place for a long time without being able to understand and digest the amount of information in these two sentences.

Until the sound of the two's conversation became more and more distant,and eventually inaudible,she finally came to sense-

"My husband cheated on me."

"And the mistress was our live-in housemaid,Mary Cortney,who has been taking care of me since the time I was discharged from the hospital."

Lauren's never been so heartbroken as she is right now at this moment.

Even if she had a car accident and the doctor said that she would most likely be blind for the rest of her life,she has never been this sad.

In front of her eyes,replayed David's kindness and sweetness to her over the years,as well as the image of him proposing to her in the ward after that car accident.Lauren flopped down in the bathroom,crying silently and desperately.

Her heart continued to tell her,"It was not true,"but her mind was pushing her to confront them.So,Lauren collected herself,with a glimmer of hope,pretended to still be drunk,and stumbled out.

Habitually feeling the wall,Lauren subconsciously surveyed her wedding house with her husband.

It's been almost a year since they lived in it,yet she hasn't been able to witness its change from rough to fine because of her blindness.

She can only imagine exactly what it looks like by touch.

Now,she can see again.She can't control the eagerness in her heart when she sees this familiar yet strange environment.

But when she saw the scene of David kissing a woman in his arms in the master bedroom,her face blanched.

Especially after seeing the woman's face,the only remaining trace of hope in her heart was shattered.

She never thought that the one who kissed David would be his cousin.

Lauren remembered her face very well.

She had seen her picture on his phone.

Because there were many of them,I asked.

That's how Lauren learned that she is his second aunt's daughter.

Because he grew up with her,he has always treated her as his own sister.

But their current behavior is clearly not what a brother and a sister would do.

Thinking of this,Lauren's face changed,her footsteps accelerated,and she walked silently against the wall to the door.
